PureTea's Jasmine Dragon Pearl green tea is a completely handcrafted, premium quality green tea, that is not only an absolutely fantastic drink, but also an elegant work of art to watch brew.  When dry, this pearl shaped tea is olive coloured with obvious silver tips.  Its production is a long, involved process.  The tea buds and leaves are carefully picked in Spring, dried and then stored and kept cool until the jasmine flowers bloom.  The night blooming jasmine flowers are picked early each morning while the petals are still closed.  Kept cool during the day, in the early evening the flowers begin opening with a popping sound, indicating they are ready to be mixed in with the dried tea.  After about 5 hours the flowers are removed and the tea carefully dried for 4 to 5 days.  This scenting process is then repeated with fresh flowers a total of 7 times, in the end producing this amazing tea that takes over a month to make!  1 lb of finished Dragon Pearl tea will use about 4 lbs of jasmine flowers during this arduous process.  The end result is an absolutely amazing tea, and one of PureTea's top sellers.

Brief Health Info

Jasmine Dragon Pearl is a premium green tea, and so gives you all the great health benefits of any green tea.  Due to its extremely high content of antioxidants, green tea helps reduce the instance of some forms of cancer, helps lower the risk of heart attacks and coronary diseases and helps fights the affects of aging and pollution.

In addition it is also widely believed in China that the jasmine flowers themselves add some additional benefits, helping reduce depression and also helping with natural detoxification of the body.

How to Make Tea

Just like all green teas, Jasmine Dragon Peal should be brewed directly in a glass at 176 ºF (80 ºC) for 1 to 2 minutes, giving you a tea with a minty green colour.  PureTea's Dragon Pearl can be infused 4 or 5 times, adding about 50% to the brewing time and using slightly hotter water for each infusion.

Be careful to avoid using boiling water, as this will cause the tea to take on a slightly astringent bitter taste, that will overwhelm the sweet taste and aroma of the jasmine.

Lin Jian

Lin Jian, who is born in Fuding, Fujian, has been living under the environment of teas. His father, grandfather and great-grandfather are all tea farmers. The dream of engaging in tea business was came up at that time. He said: “My original idea is to make a good life for my family by tea business. But from 1993 when my tea business was gradually developed, I changed my mind. Fuding is the best place of planning white tea. So I want to create a long-term Organic Tea business.” Through our contact with Mr Lin, we felt that he is a man of frankness, speaking quickly, walking quickly and working quickly.

Where is this Jasmine “Dragon Pearls” Green Tea produced

Like most of our premium teas, PureTea's Jasmine Dragon Pearl Green Tea is grown and produced in the Mt. Taimu area of Fujian province.  The jasmine used in this tea is grown on a 200 acre plantation in Guangxi province.

This tropical mountainous coastal area is perfect for growing teas.  The area has an abundant rainfall, with many misty days in spring, and temperatures that are neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter.  The mountains around the farms are more than 80% forested, ensuring the soil has a high natural fertility and organic content, removing the need to use fertilizers.
