Growing Area

Situated on the North China Plain, Shangqiu is part of a traditionally agricultural region in eastern Henan province. Thanks to its abundant sunshine resource (1,944 annual average sunshine hours), Shangqiu is an important food producing crops area and known as “the eastern Henan granary” (Chinese: 豫东粮仓) in China – the annual food grain production of wheat, corn and other grain crops exceed 50,000,000t. The city forest coverage in Shangqiu reaches up 28.8%, ranking number 1 in Henan and the water quality regular rate has been evaluated as 100% for consecutive 7 years.


Mentha also known as mint is a genus of plants in the family Lamiaceae (mint family). Almost all mints thrive near pools of water, lakes, rivers, and moist spots in partial shade even in full sun. The leaves are arranged in opposite pairs and their flowers are white to purple . The fruit is a nutlet which is dark purple brown in color.
